And bad news
After getting my second video done - finally - I spent all of yesterday trying to film the third. It went very badly indeed. By this time, I'm thoroughly sick of filming, but kept going, trying to get just one good take. When I said that the third film was easier - no… wrong!
The reason why it was more difficult than imagined? Rods to short, arms getting in the light, an awkward set of actions, and very badly designed set pieces, that the shadow puppet kept getting stuck on. After being totally frustrated and not wanting to keep going, I settled on one fairly decent, but obviously imperfect take, and hoped that would do.
Of course, I went to transpose the film to my computer, and naturally, this is where things go horribly, horribly wrong. All the video files must have overloaded my computer's memory, and about halfway into editing, the video would refuse to play, and the program kept crashing every few minutes. I spent 5 hours trying to get it all to work. Finally, I had it done, and went to upload to Youtube, when again, my computer crashed. I went to restart, got a drink and something to eat, and came back to the "blue screen of death", with a whole list of errors being fixed. I freaked out - did my laptop just die completely? Or would I be able to get back to all my files and stuff?
Luckily, it was just a few error fixes, and everything was all right. At this point, I decided to uninstall a few programs that were unnecessary, in the hopes that I can reduce the amount of memory I'm using.
Anyway, by this time it was 4am…
So now you can start to see why I, a) don't like performing, and b) don't like filming
I've just done the last film, hopefully, but at least I'll have that done by the end of the day. With heaps of little things to get done before launching the new store, I'm not expecting to get it done tonight - the way things are going - but it should definitely definitely definitely be done tomorrow. … I hope
