Th-th-that's feet folks!
So in my last post it pretty much looks like Doc is finished! Wrong!
Doc didn’t have feet - so I added some.
I wanted some proper shoes to add to Doc, so I went and bought some children’s size op-shop shoes. And some socks. These happen to be ‘doc martin’/blundstone type shoes. I was going to go with some dress shoes, but these were easier to find.

Stuffing the sock with some pillow-stuffer, I then stuffed the sock into the shoe. The idea was to tie the rope from the leg to the sock, but weight was an issue and the shoes pulled too much down at the toes.
What happened was ingeniously apt for the shoes. I decided instead to ignore the sock, and tie the rope through each one of those little tabs on the top of the shoe. You can see to the right how it worked.
Pulling the pant leg over the top of the shoe, and we’re done!
Incidentally, the weight of the children’s shoes are ideal - if these moppets were designed for walking, the shoes would give a little weight to the legs and feet area. On the other hand, if you did a lot of walking with them, the puppeteer would get tired from the weight. Luckily we’re not doing much walking.
Now, on to the next project! Read next post - opening night - here.
